Circular Knitting

I am finally getting the hang of using the circular needles. I actually have about 2 rounds on the needle after knitting about 5 flat and then joining in the round. Thanks so much to all on Ravelry who offered advice. I haven't actually been following the pattern I hope to do, but instead just learning the technique. I have a terrible headache now, so I probably won't do anymore today, but will hopefully begin the hat tomorrow.

Casting on, ripping out, casting on, ripping out...Asking for Help!

I have attempted beginning the hat a couple of times in the last week but have gotten frustrated. The videos on www.knittinghelp.com were more confusing to me than ever even though they are very good videos. After ripping out my 100 cast-on stitches multiple times, I reached out for help on Ravelry. I got so many replies in one day, it's great to know people really want to help me. Now I am beginning to cast on again and hope I get more than just those stitches done, but actually get a few rounds.

The joys of circular needles...

The Purse Needs Felted

I have finished seaming the purse. Although it isn't perfect, it is good enough considering it is the first item I've knitted that needs more than weaving in ends. Once the purse is felted, I expect I'll be the only one aware of any mistakes anyways :)

I suppose I should be moving on to a new project: the hat previously mentioned I suppose. Off to master circular knitting!

Aggravations With the Purse

I have started just now to sew up the side seams of the purse...and am realizing I may have miscounted rows or something because the sides are coming out uneven. However, there is a point in time when you just finish something because only I will really even notice the mistakes. Plus once it's felted and everything it may not even be recognizable.

On another note, we are going to my fiance's grandmother's for dinner and my fiance has to work till 9 tonight. I'm excited...and I'm off.

Pictures of the Purse finally!

So after the camera batteries were charged...I couldn't find the cord to my camera until I realized it has somehow gotten lost underneath a pair of my fiance's pants in the laundry pile. I am now putting them up. I have pictures of each section of the purse but not the whole thing since it hasn't been sewn together as of yet. Maybe I'll do that this afternoon since I have 4 1/2 more hours before Oliver comes home from work.

This is the body of the purse, both sides and the bottom are knitting as one piece.

This piece is the tab with the buttonhole. It's a really cute button that it came with, but I don't have a picture of it yet.

This piece is the strap...just long and thin, not too exciting.

Once this project is all finished (maybe today, maybe not) I'm planning on starting a black hat with a red flower attached, but it involves circular knitting which I haven't mastered, so we shall see if it takes all summer!

New Blog and Almost Finished Purse

I've decided to start a blog on my knitting and my life since it will be so much easier to put everything in one place rather than on Ravelry, KnittingHelp and Facebook. Hopefully it will be an easy change since I've never had a blog before!

To start I am a student at Florida State University going into my junior year. I love Tallahassee and the school, but I was living alone my first semester and taught myself to knit. I've only made small things so far, but hopefully I can start expanding especially with nothing to do this summer. I'm staying in NY with my fiance's family, but couldn't find a job. Instead I began knitting a purse last Thursday or Friday from a kit someone gave me. It's from Annie's Hook and Needle Kit Club. I finished the body of it this morning but haven't started anything else. It seems a little off like I accidentally skipped some rows so one side is shorter than the other, but it'll probably look fine once it's felted. I planned on putting up some pictures, but my camera batteries all seem to be dead, so I'm charging them and will put up pictures along the way. I plan on finishing it this week!

Back to knitting, will update as it goes...
